Legends and History Surround Prague’s Charles Bridge

Southern California entrepreneur Youval Ziv, an experienced world traveler, has visited several continents. Currently the head of the real property investment company Pacific Holdings, Youval Ziv has spent a great deal of time in Western and Eastern Europe, with trips to the Baltic republics, as well as Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is widely beloved as one of the world’s most beautiful and historically rich cities. Most tourists make sure to spend time lingering on Charles Bridge, which spans the Vltava River from the city’s Old Town side to Malá Strana (translated to mean Lesser Quarter or Lesser Town).

Constructed under the reign of the Emperor Charles IV in the 14th Century, the stone bridge is the subject of numerous legends. One of these legends attribute the bridge’s strength and sturdiness over the centuries to builders who affixed its stones with egg yolks. Whatever the reason, the bridge has endured a steady stream of traffic since its construction, and even survived the disastrous 2002 flooding of the city.

Each of the 30 stone statues mounted along the 515-meter-long bridge has its own story as well. The most famous of these is the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The Saint is easy to identify, based on the halo of bright stars surrounding his head. One superstition associated with his statue is that visitors who touch his image will surely return to Prague someday.

Rishon LeZion, Where Education Meets Fun

Youval Ziv, CEO at Pacific Holdings Partnership in Los Angeles, California, spent his student years in Israel, earning a law degree from the College of Management Academic Studies. Just outside of Tel Aviv, Youval Ziv was able to enjoy the beauty of beachfront Rishon LeZion, home of scholars and fun-seekers alike.

The fourth largest city in Israel, Rishon LeZion, or First to Zion as translated in English, was founded in the late 1800s by Zionist pioneers from Eastern Europe. It is the home of the largest private college in the country, Israel College of Applied Science, which offers prestigious degrees in law, business, economics and more.

The Carmel Winery, dating back to the beginnings of Rishon LeZion, is located beside the detailed historical museum and memorial. Like most modern cities, shopping malls, movie theaters and restaurants dot the beautiful beachfront. For those looking for more modern entertainment, Superland, a state-of-the-art amusement park, offers roller coaster thrills, carousels, and even bungee jumping for the daring.

Four Not-to-Miss Towns in Slovakia

CEO at Pacific Holdings Partnership in Los Angeles, California, Youval Ziv has traveled extensively throughout Europe when not committing himself to his professional duties. While many travelers stick to the western countries, Youval Ziv has visited much of Eastern Europe, including the often neglected Slovakia. Right over the border from Poland, this small nation offers something for everyone.

1. Bardejov – A preserved medieval trading town, this UNESCO World Heritage Site offers history buffs a chance to see what a town square from the 1200s looks like. It also features the oldest museum in the entire country.

2. Bratislava – Built in the 10th Century, Bratislava is the largest city in the country and the gateway to all other places on the list. Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and offers an incredible castle and fortified walls. Believe it or not, it's also known for it's incredible music scene.

3. Košice – Holding the title for the most historical monuments in Slovakia, Košice has a collection of gothic, baroque and art-nouveau buildings. This second largest city will impress even the most discerning visitors.

4. Poprad – For nature-lovers, Poprad is where visitors can enter the High Tatra Mountains, which tower over the city. If relaxation is the goal, the local Aqua City Poprad offers plenty of saunas and hot springs.

Public Speaking Fears Can Be Overcome

Israeli-American real estate leader Youval Ziv heads four companies concerned with real estate and investment. At Pacific Holdings Partnership, Youval Ziv directs the operations of a 13-year-old firm with high-performing property investments in California and several other states. Youval Ziv is also a public speaker who has addressed audiences on a variety of topics in his field.

Many polls report that public speaking is among Americans’ greatest fears. Yet experts have demonstrated that this fear is far from unconquerable.

While many courses are available on how to improve skills in speaking in front of an audience, speakers still need to come to grips with underlying anxieties to achieve success. Experienced speakers offer advice that ranges from meticulous preparation to consciously developing confident body language.

These may help, as may visualization techniques in which the speaker creates strong mental images of success. Experts also advise speakers to check out the space where the speech will take place ahead of time. Do research in advance to understand the audience, the theme of the event, and the current state of the relevant industries.

Tigers Lead Solitary, Sometimes Dangerous Lives

As managing partner of Pacific Holdings Partnership, Youval Ziv manages the firm’s single-family residence real estates across the United States. A lover of animals, Youval Ziv is the proud owner of a tiger named Maya.

The largest cat in the world, tigers are mostly found in grasslands and rainforests in Southeast Asia, China, and Russia. The large mammals have thick reddish coats with long black and gray stripes. There are nine known species of tigers: Siberian, Bengal, South Chinese, Indochinese, Sumatran, Malayan, Javan, Caspian, and Bali. The last three are extinct. In all species, males are larger than females. A Siberian male can weigh up to 660 pounds.

Tigers feed on wild pigs, ambar deer, antelope, and water buffalo. On some occasions, they are known to hunt crocodiles, leopards, sloth bears, and monkeys. Tigers are patient predators, often stalking their prey before ambushing them. They rely on their huge size to knock down prey before killing them with a bite to the neck. Tigers can consume up to 88 pounds of meat at a go.

Tigers live very solitary lives and are fiercely territorial. They occupy territories whose size depends on the availability of food. These territories are marked with urine and feces.

Poaching and human-wildlife conflict has led to the gradual reduction in the tiger population to just about 3,000-4,500. Adoption can save them from extinction.
